First try on a notebook, are these compatible and other q's

i have the following laptops i could try this on:

 

HP 6910p

HP 6930p

HP 6820s

Toshiba satelitte pro P200-!dv with an SSD drive

HP 2510p 12" laptop.  1.2 ghz cpu, 2 gig ram, 120 gig hdd.

T61 lenovo laptop

 

 

mini itx build PC with:

intel i3 2130 processor @ 3ghz
asus P8H77 i motherboard
arctic cooling low profile CPU cooler

silverstone SG05 case

600 watt SFF psu

DVD-rw

480 gig bigfoot sata 2 SSD drive

 

i haven't used a mac or pro book before.  no other people have OS-X so i'm a total beginner.

 

i have read a guide on here but states i need OS to prepare the USB stick, is that right?

 

can i use a USB3 stick?

 

i will use mountain lion OS-X

 

whats the simplist guide to use?
