rthally94
Hey all, I'm currently having a slight problem with my Asus Sabertooth Build. Curious if anyone has had a problem similar to this with the same or other hardware. The problem is that when I do any processing intensive work such as converting with handbrake, rendering video, etc, the system will lock up. When this happens, the display is still visible, no mouse or keyboard movement, if anything was being played, such as video, it freezes, and there is a slight popping sound coming from my speakers connected via SPDIF every second or so. I posted this in the Mavericks forum because I am currently running it on my hack pro. The same problem existed in ML. Could this be a problem with the OS not getting the correct CPU States. I am currently using the patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from Mieze. http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-lion-desktop-support/60912-patched-appleintelcpupowermanagement-kext-10-8-a.html . Other than that problem, everything works fine. Thanks for everyone's help!
pierz
I'm running 10.8.5 on my Saber77 without problems... I'm using a patched BIOS, custom DSDT and a custom SSDT to overclock my 3770k a little. I tried 10.9GM once and I had no cpu states too and a pretty high load on the system even without running apps. I'm going to test it again soon. I've attached my DSDT, maybe it can help. Let's fix 10.9 on our sweet mobo SabertoothZ77.zip
rthally94
Thanks pierz! Sorry for a delayed response, I've been working on a RMA with Corsair. Turns out I had a bad stick of ram. Simple fix, just have to wait. Thanks for the DSDT! Do you have SPDIF passthrough working on your Sabertooth? I haven't managed to get mine running unless I use PLEX and set the audio to SPDIF, 5.1, and passthrough. I find it work that the software will passthrough but it isn't an option in OSX. Oh well. In regards to the CPU states, I managed to see a few come through. For instance, the CPU would idle when browsing the web, finder, etc, would jump to normal (3.4-3.6GHz) when doing some processor intensive tasks, and then to 3.9GHz during benchmarks and 3D renders. Works fine for me since power isn't and issue. Sleep works perfectly. That's all on 10.9GM planning on getting everything updated through once the new RAM makes it back from Corsair. pierz
Ok, here are two new DSDTs: one with support for nvidia/ati cards and one with a specific config for nvidia card (actually my GTX 580 with 1.5Gb). DSDT_NEW.zip Fell free to try the first if u got time. You should see some speed increase (at least I did) pier
rthally94
I'll try it as soon as my RAM comes back from corsair. Thanks again
rickyreall84
sorry to bump into your guys conversation but i noticed you have sleep automatic wake issues. I read around a lot of forms and how made mine sleep was disable PPL overages in the AI tweaking in the bios. I hope that helps.
