So, I have been trying different methods to install OS X on an AMD 64 3700+, but nothing seems to work. I tried to install through a DVD and I get an error message saying "SAM Multimedia:Read or Write Failed"my friend says that my built-in card reader is the issue behind it, but I don't see how. If anyone has any insight into this that would be great. Thanx!

If you searched on "SAM Multimedia", you would find it means there is a problem reading data from the DVD.

Re-burn it at the slowest speed possible. Also, if available, use different brand or type (dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw) media.

If that fails, see if you can update the firmware of your optical drive.

Beautiful, I burned it at lowest possible setting and then had it verify the written data. I popped it in and restarted my computer and it went into the installation screen. I'm going to wait until the weekend to install it though, I got to do all lot of work this week so I want to amke sure it's safe. Thanks for your help!

Hope the install actually completes, but if it doesn't, you might try the following as I also had this problem with the original 10.4.3 DVD I used, even after burning at the lowest speed:

I found out my DVD reader was either old or going bad and simply couldn't read it right, so I simply did the install through windows with Vmware pointing to the dvd image file. Installed perfect and then ran natively as the primary drive in the system from that point on.

Reinstall.

During the installation, when you get to the window where you are to click the Install button, you must first click the Customize button and choose packages for your computer. Click the little arrow next to the patches category to reveal the individual packages. Select Intel or AMD packages, not both. Select SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Select the Combo Update to get the latest version of OSX. Select other packages only if you know your computer can use them.
