liquid_gabe
I hope I haven't missed an obvious thread about this, but I have spent a lot of time looking around. I have an ECS motherboard with VIA chipset, an Intel D 920 chip. I was able to install 10.4.5 without hickup to a SATA drive. Problem is that after install it tells me that there is no keyboard attached, and will not boot further. I've tried USB and PS2, even an Apple keyboard. Nothing. As an aside, I tried to install 10.4.6 and I immediately get the message that I must power off the computer. I'd appreciate your insight. I work with Macs, and coming home to Windows is just depressing... Rammjet
Use a PS2 keyboard and mouse or a USB keyboard and mouse - do not mix them - no PS2 keyboard with USB mouse. Play with USB settings in BIOS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29088-usb-keyboardmouse-okay-for-install-not-after/#findComment-199582 Share on other sites
Slinger2g
HI, When the install disc is loading the installer uses Darwin kext files, so that is why your USB ports are still working. Once the OS is done beeing installed, the kext files loaded are the OS specific files that are not compatible with your onboard USB ports. Not sure if you are familiar with CompUSA but they have a wide selection of hardware that is MAC&PC compatible. If you can get your hands on a pci USB card that is MAC&PC compatible. problem solved. P.S. USB 1.1 good for 10.4-10.4.3, USB 2.0 needed for 10.4.4-10.4.8 GOOD LUCK Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29088-usb-keyboardmouse-okay-for-install-not-after/#findComment-199636 Share on other sites
