Hi there,

Was just wondering if this would work to get sata drives under OS X:

sata-host-01.jpg

As you can see it plugs into a standard IDE port on the motherboard. The adapter converts the IDE port to sata. I believe the adapter is transparent to the system, hense OS X would think its a standard IDE drive...

The nice thing is that the harddrive speed drop should be minimal if at all. Plus the adapters are only around £10 ;)

What do you think?

Great.

I have the opposite, SATA to IDE converter, Incredible that this converter gets more speed of my PATA drives, I wonder if that converter does anything to the speed of a SATA drive.

I'd try it for definate. I had a ATA to SATA adaptor and the thing worked like a dream until I made the mistake of buying an SATA drive i noticed a drop in performance immediately so go on give it a bash and for 10 quid you can't go wrong mine costs me £25
