I've started looking for any drivers and patches that I might need post install.

I see a 10.4.9 SSE update thread. Gotta get that too. In the writeup it says the default Front Side Bus speed is set to 200MHz. From the instructions I have to manually set it to the correct value. Which, looks to me as 533Mhz unless I am somehow overlooking the obvious. Will report on this later.

The motherboard arrived! Woohoo. But no processor, (Looks like I have been pwned by UPS - Arghh).

 

I will lick the terminal of a 9 volt battery to pass time while I wait till tomorrow.
