icpeanutz
I successfully install 10.4.6 DVD on my Dell Dimension 4700 system. the installation went through perfectly. After the system restarted, the startup menu starts up with the gray Apple logo and spinning rainbow color thingy. After about a minute or 2, a STOP symbol appear on top of the Apple logo. It just hangs. I tried various things, but I can not continue. I disable all the extra devices such as NIC and sound. I tried re-installing. Nothing works. Please help. thanks. Rammjet
...sigh...I should have a macro for this: During the installation, right before clicking the Install button, you must first click the Customize button and choose packages for your computer. Click the little arrow in front of the patches category to reveal the individual packages. Select only Intel or AMD packages, not both. Select SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Select the Combo Update in order to install the latest OS. Select other packages only if you are sure your computer needs them. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4249 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28773-failed-start-up-dell-dimension-4700-after-successful-install/#findComment-197531 Share on other sites
