Two ways to do that: 1) Start -> Run -> msconfig Go to the boot.ini tab and make the appropriate edits. 2) Easier way, go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced Tab -> Startup and Recovery section -> Click Settings Now uncheck the "Time to display list of operating systems:" checkbox, and make sure to select windows XP in the drop down list as the default OS. Good luck, Umpa + unfortunately non of these tricks worked under 1) Start -> Run -> msconfig I could not do any changes under 2) changes can be done - but they don't work thanks for your reply anyways ...
