tramalfadorian
Here is what my system looks like. Looks pretty nice but still not perfect. Hardware Overview: Machine Name: jMac (THANKS JAS!) Machine Model: ADP2,1 CPU Type: Intel® Pentium® D CPU Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 2.66 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB CPU Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL TM2 CX16 TPR Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 533 MHz Boot ROM Version: 080012 (American Megatrends Inc.) Serial Number: 00000000000 Display: Type: VGA-Compatible Controller Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x71c2 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: DELL 2007WFP: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz 2D Extreme: Supported Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported Looks like everything is supported but anything involving OpenGL (please correct me if I'm wrong but this includes things like the Daischboard, widget animations, flurry ss) is very jerky (Does QT use Q2DE?). I've tried 10.4.7 ATI kexts and OpenGL.framework as well as combinations of kexts from previous versions. Has anyone had any success with a 512MB PCIe card? When you say your x1600XT is fully supported do you still have the same problems I am having? Everything looks good but doesn't work so great? tramalfadorian
Thanks. I've actually tried that. Maybe it's the PD 805 Processor not supportting HTT??? Perfect video and everything? I'm jealous mate. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28596-x1600-pro-pcie-512mb-so-close-i-can-taste-it/#findComment-196517 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Using a 256 MB x1600xt PCI-e with an 805 processor o/c'd. No stuttering or problems with dual core. No graphics problems. However, only VGA (must use a DVI-VGA adapter on DVI port). Used the manual Boris method with JaS 10.4.6 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28596-x1600-pro-pcie-512mb-so-close-i-can-taste-it/#findComment-196528 Share on other sites
tramalfadorian
Huh, originally I did the same thing; Jas 10.4.6 with manual boris. Gonna start from scratch tonight. Would love to see your kexts... Rammjet
Would love to see your kexts... Nothing special about them. Used the 10.4.6 JaS installation and performed the manual Boris method as defined in the Boris link in my sig. No rocket science here. tramalfadorian
Ok. Thanks Rammjet. That's what I figured. Another questions tho...Does your system profiler see your RAM correctly? Is it like this: DIMM0/BANK0: Size: 1 GB Type: SDRAM Speed: Unknown DIMM1/BANK1: Size: 1 GB Type: SDRAM Speed: Unknown or does it actually give you the speed? Thanks in advance for your wisdom, oh great Rammjet. Rammjet
System Profiler sees the size of my RAM correctly, but the Speed is Unknown. tramalfadorian
So it recongnizes your ram as DDR2? Also, what do all of the animations and quicktime use? QE2D, QE, etc.? Sorry for the very novice questions. Thanks for everyone's feedback. It has been very helpful. Rammjet
So it recongnizes your ram as DDR2? SDRAM - it says the same thing as your RAM Also, what do all of the animations and quicktime use? QE2D, QE, etc.? Yes Display: Type: VGA-Compatible Controller Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x71c0 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Sceptre X9G-KOMODO IV: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported I notice QE2D is missing. It must have gotten turned off somehow. I'll have to turn it back on - it does support it. tramalfadorian
Well, I disabled one of the CPU's and it's working perfectly. Before changing the Boot.plist to cpus=1 I tried idlehalt=0 but without success. Rammjet, any suggestions? I would love to be able to use both cpus. Anyone with an 805 out there with a stuttering workaround other than the ones listed above? Many thanks to Rammjet as I actually found one of your old posts saying to disable 1 of the cpus. wdgoldstein
Has anyone managed to get extended desktop working with this card? If I hook up a second monitor all I am able to get is a Mirror.
