ufulu
Hello everybody! After 24 Hours of trial and error I got MAC OSX 10.4.7 (JaS) running on my Samsung X20 Notebook. The Notebooks specks are: 1.6GHZ Intel SSE2 Chip RAM: 2036 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM) On Board Graphic: Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family (128 MB) Intel GMA 900 Sound: Intel 82801FBM ICH6-M - AC'97 Audio Controller [b-1] What I did: I have ONE Harddrive which I split up into 3 partitions: first: Windows XP second: unallocated space!!! third: FAT32 as a shared drive. Then in CMD I ran: "diskpart" list disk select disk 0 create partition primary id=af list disk select disk 0 list partition select partition ...???? ( The "unallocated partition" active exit ....and then went on to Boot from the MAC OS X86 (JaS) 10.4.7 DVD image i happenden to have. After about 20min MAC OSX was installed and after the frist reboot it booted into MAC OSX and I was happy! Yes i read all about Acronis OS Selector and it recognizes an "unknown" OS BUT doesn't Boot into it after inital Boot? Downloaded Universal Boot CD booted from it, pressed F3 and 3 to get into simple boot manager marked my HFS disk, pressed Tab and boot it! and it Boots into OSX and everything works just like on a mac! Fantastic!!!!!!! Now my question: When booting into MAC OSX I have to have my external Monitor hooked onto my notebook otherwise I don't see anything. If I do so I get a messed up resolution on my Laptop LCD and a nice 1024x768 resolution on my extrenal TFT! How can I change that? As I said booting without my external TFT doesn't work, nor does booting OSX from Arconis OS Selector, nor the 0chain method I read about in other threads. I installed all necessary stuff ( but only the necessary stuff) which came from the JaS MAC OSX 10.4.7 image. So to summ it up: MAC OSX 10.4.7 (JaS) works on a Samsung X20 Notebook except for the bug of having to connect an external monitor, and the fact that I have to run the UBCD to boot into MAC OS everthing is fine! So now its your turn to help me out of this like I would like to help you with your configuration! All I can say is that ALL PROGRAMMS work on the MAC OS X 10.4.7 (JaS) and I can install Office and Creative suite and so on, AND: It is really really FAST! Sound and ethernet work and about my mac and safari and everything, relaay everything just works like on a genuine mac, well except my intel wireless but I expected that from reading the other threads so no hassel about hat problem... Thank you guys, couse without you I wouldn't have achieved this! Lets keep up the work togehter and help us out! Why pay 2000€ if you can just run Mac on your current machine? ufulu
Thanks Rammjet for that quick response! I'll try that out and see what happens.... Saw this post before but thought it would just work like I had my external TFT hooked on, but ok you never know until you try so I'll give it a go right now and report later.... ufulu
Ok tried it out, doesn't work: first I get the grey apple screen with the moving circle, then after a short while the screen truns blue ( not the windows bule screen we love and hate) just blue. And then the Harddisk stops doing anything and the whole system hangs.... Any other suggestions? Rammjet
Double-check your wiring. It has worked for everyone else. Your choices are: - connect a monitor - connect a VGA dongle (adapter) - 2-wire trick - new computer Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28499-screen-resolution/#findComment-195176 Share on other sites

ufulu
Samsung X20: 1.6 GHZ, 2GB DDR RAM, Graphic: Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910 GML GMA Express Chipset Family shows up under OS X as a GMA900 with 256 VRAM Mac OS X 10.4.7 (JaS) is running very smoothly on my notebook. Boot time is approximately 25sec. and I am also getting used to have my VGA dongle with me to start the whole thing up. Actually I like it: It’s like a car key without it you can’t run the machine wink_anim.gif Well anyway I don't know what I did except reselt my BIOs options and all of a sudden OS x Boots up in 1400x1050! Software: Office works great, Photoshop & Flash work all right only slower than under windows. iPhoto works but the slideshow doesn’t. Is this due to the fact that my card doesn’t support QE? What I am having problems with is watching movies. In the small window the movie runs smoothly but as soon as I turn to full screen the movements start to get choppy. Might be a codec thing but I installed Xvid and Divx and run the movies with our beloved VLC player. Anybody else have the same problem or any clue to how I might fix this? Hardware: Another thing is that the sleep function doesn’t work: When I put the notebook to sleep it closes down OS X but then the machine hangs on a blue screen. Any suggestions? All Hardware works: Bluetooth and my cell phone ( Nokia 6230i) get connected properly sound is great and like on all other machines the Intel wireless 2200 card doesn’t but this is a minor issue which I am planning to solve my buying a compatible Wifi card. The Ethernet works but only when you do a cold start into OS X, rebooting from windows results in OS X not finding a connection. Scrolling doesn’t work with the synaptics touchpad so far. This is the first time I really work with OS X and I don’t think I will switch back to windows. The handling is so intuitive the animations sweet…Beautiful…fast…. If you read this and have any solutions to my above mentioned problems I would appreciate your support! Thanks in advance… Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28499-screen-resolution/#findComment-201919 Share on other sites
