mallard
I am using an IBM Thinkpad T30, running 10.4.4, Quicktime 7.1.3. I have recently got QE running, but I am not sure if that is related to this issue. Basically, alert sounds, the sound control in the menu bar and VLC will play audio fine, but Quicktime won't and the System Profiler says "No Built-in Audio." The Mic even works (I built a sound-sensitive screensaver in Quartz Composer). Anyone got a clue?
TheQuantumByte
Well lucky for you you've got sounds at all.
mallard
Well I used to have full sound support. It's just suddenly disappeared. I'm thinking that the Quicktime update killed it, how do I undo that?
RyanThaDude29
I think I'm suffereing from a similar problem. Sometimes sounds work, sometimes they don't. If something isn't playing in QT/iTunes I can stop it and play again then usually I get sound. When sounds are not playing it's system wide, not just specific to one player. mallard
After a *lot* of messing around with older versions (even broke the finder at one point), I was able to get the QT 7.1.2 installer to run, that fixed the issue.
