Hello All.

PC: Hp cq50-209wm

intel celeron(I think)

2gb ram

atheros a4242x pci e wifi & realtek rt8101e lan card

I switch between 3 different hard drives on the laptop until I can get everything figured out.

60gb with s3v2

250gb iatkos v7

120gb with vista 32bit ( used basically to obtain hardware id's or attempt to flash bios)

I've been creeping these forums & the googling like crazy for the past few weeks and can't figure out what to do. After many distros, I've been the most successful with installing iatkos v7 onto an external & then installing that hard drive into my laptop. Or restoring iatkos v3s2 onto a usb drive through lion running virtually on vmware. When I run iatkos 7, I can everything to work except lan & wifi. When I run s3, I can't get usb & internet(wifi & Lan) to work. So, after a little research, I tried switching my pci e card with a BCM94321wc pulled from dell d60, supposedly since it works out of the box.

Cq50 doesn't boot, I get an unsupported wifi network device (104) error. Tried multiple edited bios flashes through winflash on my vista hard drive & after I successfully flash any of them, I still get the stupid 104 wifi error.

So, I'm sorry if this post is stupid & regarding a pc that's got a few posts about it already. But I'm at a stand still & didn't want to ask a question until I was stuck.

I've tried installing multiple kext's & none of them seem to 'activate' my atheros card.

I would rather try to get that atheros card working but it seems that there are a few people that have problems with it. Multiplie kexts through kext helper & osx86 tools seem to install okay, but I don't know how to edit values on anything or add hardware id's to kext's or plists or anything like that. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix my problem, please let me know.

the bcm94321 & flashing bios doesn't seem to be getting anywhere, after trying four of them & winflash successfully flashed altered f63 bios'. So, whatever way fixes this laptop, I'm down to do it.

Thanks for reading my confusing post.
