King John
So I did a bit of research and I found out that my processor has SSE3 and SSE4(/a) instruction sets. I know a big blockade for AMD Hackintosh's was SSE3 virtualization. So now that AMD has SSE3/4 support, does that mean that if I changed a mach kernel to recognize my device as an Intel Core i7, would I be looking at a pretty smooth install? Technical mumbling: Though the newest Core i7 only has 4 cores, it does have 8 threads. This is similar to the FX-8150 as it has 8 cores and 8 threads. Both contain up to SSE4, with Intel having the 4.2 version and AMD having the 4a. But that shouldn't matter because the additional instructions shouldn't be used. So the 10.6.3 does a CPU match.. So if I had kernel, all I would need to do is modify it to regonize it as a intel core i7 990 or 3500K. Or 980, since I think the 990 is a sandybridge and not an Ivybridge. Right? I don't have a clue on how to extract kernels for patching, so if anyone knows of a link to a vanilla(or already pre-edited) 10.6.3 kernel, that'd be awesome. And a 10.7.2/3/4... And I'm creating another thread in the 10.6 section, as I think theres more technical help there.
