pokeyoats
Hi all, I just recently got my Qosmio X305-Q720 up and running and from searching and reading, discovered that there are no kexts for the Intel 5100AGN Wifi device and that a lot of people are using a broadcom solution due to native support. My question, hopefully a simple one, is given that my laptop has an Expresscard/54 slot can anyone advise me of the broadcom model number or the recommended device to purchase in order to get Wifi working reliably on my Hackintosh? Thank you kindly.
rlf
The solution is to open the computer and remove the Intel 5100 card and replace it witha Broadcom BCM4311 card. The card is a miniPCIe card. Make sure you get the same size card because some come in half-height.
pokeyoats
It's not the easiest notebook to work with though and there doesn't appear to be any removable area on the back as I have seen on other laptops from google images. Is there another option that I can use that doesn't involve having to access the motherboard?
rlf
I personally don't know of an ExpressCard solution. Often, the keyboard has to be popped off. Google around for methods to access memory and wifi.
pokeyoats
Yes, that's the thing, the frame, keyboard, etc. etc has to come off.. Well, this just got a little trickier.
