vcorle
I have a laptop asus a7sn and I think that I need to modify the bios because all installations (leopard, snow leopard and lion) that I tried have failed. I see here at this forum that for leopard someone called kabyl modified some BIOS and one of them was the one i'm lookig for my laptop. So perhaps somebody have this modified bios or know where I can fint it. Thanks for your interest vcorle Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/277642-searching-for-modified-bios-for-a7sn/#findComment-1809945 Share on other sites
PookyMacMan
It is very rare that you actually need a modified BIOS to run Mac OS X...the only time I've ever heard about that happening was when there needed to be a DSDT change; that was before Chameleon supported DSDT injection. I have a Snow Leopard guide in my sig; why not try that? vcorle
Thanks for your guide PookyMacMan. I tried both Snow Leopard and Lion with OSX86 ModCD and retail DVD, with and without "mach_kernel" option and installation always fail: panic and system uptime in seconds appears as you can see in picture (yes i know, it's not a good picture - if you want to see something more specifical just say it or if you need more information on laptop). Picture shows results for Lion installation: http://i302.photobuc...2012_130825.jpg My laptop is an asus a7sn. I see here at insanelymac forum and mac on pc forum that there is people who have installed leopard or snow leopard but with modified bios. This is why I though it would be a good idea to change bios. If you've got some idea, any advice is welcome. Thanks again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/277642-searching-for-modified-bios-for-a7sn/#findComment-1810131 Share on other sites
PookyMacMan
Can you link me to the BIOS mods you mention? Lion won't work yet w/ the ModCD - I'm updating it, but as for right now it doesn't support Lion. Also, the panic can't be the same for both with and without mach_kernel - the error you showed me with the other kernel is because you are using a disc that is too old (Leopard) or too new (Lion). Can you take a pic of mach_kernel's panic? I believe that the only reason for the BIOS mods is for DSDT. If such is the case, rather than risking bricking your machine, we can simply add a DSDT to the ModCD.
