MotherFury
I read in another forum that the group here is really good at solving strange mac problems... I'm hoping somebody can help figure out this one. I have a mbp and imac, both running 10.6.8. On both of them, when I attempt to view web pages running certain kinds of ajax or jquery elements, I can't see them or they are broken in some way. One clear example I can give is the FullCalendar by Adam Shaw. On his site, I have no problem viewing it, but on other sites where it is implemented, it's broken in every one of my three browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) AND it is broken on both computers. The first time I noticed it, and the one thing I can reproduce, is on a site running Wordpress, using a twenty ten theme, and displaying a calendar. The arrows meant to be on the buttons are not there, and the layout is completely skewed on the calendar page. Pages viewed that did not have the calendar on them were fine. If I view the same page on my husband's mac book (same os), or on Parallels via Chrome or Firefox, it's not broken. Other people I've asked to check do not have problems on mac or windows, any browser. Even more interesting is if I switch users to my "Guest" login on my imac, the page shows up exactly the way it is supposed to look in all of my browsers. Because it's on both computers and all my settings for the imac were actually transferred from the mbp, that leads me to believe that is some kind of corrupt file or setting only on MY login. I should probably note that when I got the mbp, I transferred everything (account, files, etc) over from my G4, and then about 6 months later, everything was transferred from my mbp to my imac. I don't want to do the OS update until I get this problem fixed because I don't want to put any more layers on top of the problem. And, I'm starting to wonder that if I can't see these elements, what else am I missing? I'm also thinking this might explain things I wrote of as sites not being mac accessible. I've turned off web sharing, thinking my browsers were trying to read js files from my computer, that didn't fix it. I'm not sure what I need to look at as far as plist or other files I only know enough about this stuff to be dangerous, and I'm looking for some kind of guidance. (I did post this in Apple discussion, no takers.)
