Hi,

I finally have my first hackintosh almost working but I have to boot with "cpus=1". I have an 8 core CPU so this seems like a real waste. How do I go about booting without this flag so I can use all 8 cores? If I don't use the flag, the boot will hang after a message about USBF controller unloading across sleep.

CPU: AMD FX8150 8 core (4.0GHz overclock)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5

Snow Leopard 10.6.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've already tried the ModCD when installing OSX but that only allows 1 core (It has cpus=1 set automatically) - I now boot from Chameleon installed on the hard drive.

More progress, If I don't put cpus=1 or put a higher number and wait a while I get the dreaded "Still waiting for root device" message.

Are you sure you did set AHCI to enabled in your BIOS? This can be conflicting.

Hope this helps

edit: just read your post again. A tip before booting which might work is to unplug all USB devices at the front and the back of the case.
