ghosterman
Hello all, sorry for my bad english, i'm french, i'll do my best to be understand. So, my problem is that when i want to install osx (i(ve tested many different version, lion, snow, Kalyway, Iatkos.....), my laptop reboot 1seconde after the apple appears. I looked in my bios, there's no option for acpi, i've already set my sata to ahcpi. I tried -v -f busratio=20 cpus=1 ect....... no change. What can i do to be able to install osx on my new laptop. I attach a screen with description of my motherboard. On the other hand Osx works great on virtualbox, but it's slow ! Foxic
Ok, I did an install on a Clevo board a few months ago, no issues at all (except poxy realtek wifi) so this should be do-able. Boot an ubuntu live disk and run lspci from terminal. This will give us your exact hardware details. Which version of OS X are you trying to install? Which ever it is, use a retail install method, distributions make things more complicated than they have to be. I would suggest that you start off with Snow Leopard. Download the Nawcom ModCD and burn it to a cd. Put it in your drive and reboot your pc (set DVD/CD as first boot device). When you are met by a GUI, swap the CD for a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail disk and press F5 Select the OS X install DVD, type -v and press Enter. You should either reach the installer or be given a kernel panic. If you get a kernel panic, take a photo and post it here. Foxic
Is your drive controller set to SATA or AHCI? It should be set to AHCI, if you don't have that option, set it to RAID, this should automatically enable AHCI mode. Set sleep to S3. Set HPET to 64bit (if possible) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274985-reboot-loo-before-installation/#findComment-1789483 Share on other sites
ghosterman
Yes my drive is set to AHCI. There is no option in my bios to set sleep to S3, same for HPET to 64bit, i've looked everywhere. I attach two more pictures in better resolution, i hope this will help. Foxic
It looks like the ModCD is at fault, try a newer version if possible. http://blog.nawcom.com/?p=446 If that doesn't work, maybe try with ##### Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274985-reboot-loo-before-installation/#findComment-1789518 Share on other sites

Foxic
if you google 'os x acpi kernel panic' there are lots of results, indicating this is a common problem. Some people have got around this by using the USB method and generating an mkext from all the kexts on the ModCD and S/L/E of the retail disk (so every kext that will be loaded from both cds) and putting this in E/E of the USB. Chameleon then loads all kexts from E/E on the USB stick, and this will include ApleACPIPlatform (from System/Library/Extensions of the retail disk). This may only be possible by using another mac though. ghosterman
There is no other way to do it without a USB stick, juste using the DVD with specials commands or something like this ? I just have a 4gb usb stick :/ Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274985-reboot-loo-before-installation/#findComment-1789690 Share on other sites
Foxic
4gb will be fine, you only need to install the bootloader and kexts to the USB stick, not the entire installer package.
