Hi All,

I'm going to give it the old college try here soon, and I was hoping to get some advice, preemptively, as to whether or not it's possible with my system.

Here are the specs as I know to give them:

-HP Pavillion a6300f desktop

-System Type: X86-based PC

-Processor: Intel ® Pentium® Dual CPU E2180

-BIOS Version: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 5.20, 10/24/2008

-SMBIOS Version: 2.5

-Motherboard: Foxconn with the NVIDIA nForce MCP73-6A61NFK1C-00

-Video Card: GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB

Also, I have an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S ATA drive. I know a SATA drive would be ideal, but is this a deal breaker for me?

Sorry for any superfluous information, and THANKS for any help in advance

With an nForce chipset MOBO a PATA (IDE) DVDRW set as Master is normally required......and your GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB graphics card should be fine.....

Your GeForce 7100/nForce 630i chipset MOBO should probably be fully AHCI compliant, meaning that you cannot use an AppleNForceATA.kext...........see these two topics:
