can you give me a link where to download iatkos l1 or l2

I'm sorry but this is not the right place to speak about that.

Pelase, read the forum rules http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules

You cannot set AHCI/RAID independently for each SATA port.

The good news is that RAID implies AHCI. This means that technically it really doesn't make any difference if your SATA controller is in "RAID" or "AHCI" mode. The only problem as far as OS X is concerned is that the device ID changes depending on which mode the controller is in.

Look in the Windows Device Manager to see which device ID your SATA controller has when it's operating in RAID mode.

Then add this device ID to AHCIPortInjector.kext and place that in /Extra/Extensions. Then you don't have to change any BIOS settings.

Make sure you never allow OS X to write to NTFS filesystems as this will probably break your RAID..when OS X writes something to one drive but not the other.

AHCIPortInjector.kext.zip

I'm sorry to say this but if you need help with elementary stuff like how to place a file in a folder then you're in the wrong place.

/Extra is at the root of the partition where the Chameleon boot loader is installed. It holds Chameleon configuration files, GUI theme files, patched kernel extensions and whatever else you need in order to boot OS X on your particular hardware.

Read the documentation for the Chameleon boot loader. Find it on the general board over at the Voodoo Projects forum.

Again, the AHCIPortInjector i attached above will most likely not work as-is with your SATA controller in RAID mode, as I said you will have to add the device ID that your SATA controller has when it is in RAID mode yourself.

You now what, forget about this for the time being and leave your SATA controller in AHCI mode until you're done installing and OS X is running. Then come back here and I'll help you with getting it to work with your SATA controller in RAID mode.

you misunderstood me i did not know the /extra folder was apart of the mac system folders i not new to mac but im not familar with its internal processes. i did not need help moving one file to another folder. so if i put it in AHCI mode and break the raid it should boot up and get past the stop sign. . also i am using a DVD not a USB stick for the boot of mac.

No, /Extra is not an OS X system folder, real Macs don't use or need the Chameleon boot loader, it is designed specifically for booting OS X on PCs. Read post #17 again.

Yes, set the SATA controller to AHCI mode while installing OS X.

This should not "break" your RAID array in any way, unless you try to boot from it while in AHCI mode of course...that probably wouldn't end well.

it will break the RAID config. biostar as built in raid function. i have set as stripe 0. so if i take sata contoller 2 and 3 and set those to AHCI mode and not raid mode it will break the raid because the controllers are now not set for RAID function therefore resulting in the raid have to be rebuilt therefore destroying the OS.

You must be talking about SATA ports 2 and 3 on the same SATA controller. You cannot hardware RAID SATA drives on two different SATA controllers!

You cannot set AHCI/RAID independently for each SATA port.

If you do have more than one SATA controller, just connect the drive you'll be installing OS X to the other one and pray that your iATKOS DVD has the right driver for it.

Are you sure the RAID will have to be rebuilt if you switch from RAID to AHCI and back again? There's no "don't touch anything, these drives were previously in RAID" setting?

If that's really how it works and you don't think it's worth sacrificing your RAIDed Windows installation, then iATKOS will not work for you.

Buy a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD from Apple and use a suitable boot CD. You will need access to a Mac or working hackintosh in order to add the modified AHCIPortInjector.kext to the boot CD so that you can install OS X with your SATA controller in RAID mode.
