Intel BOXDH67BLB3

Just picked up this board, because the Gigabyte board I wanted was an open box special and of course Newegg had sold out the day I had the money and I had little to spare. I was over at tonymacx86, and according to that place my Sapphire Radeon 5570 HD should be OK. I went with a Celeron G530 because I don't need a massive performer and I plan to upgrade to an i3 and use th chip later for the wife's next build.

Everything I've been reading suggests that the reason why Gigabyte boards work so well is that they use pretty much the same hardware as Apple. I hope I did OK with the purchase. It will be mostly a Win 7 Machine, but I wanted to be able to run Lion on it because I do repair work and lately been getting a few Mac jobs and I could use the familiarity. My theory on buying the intel board was that it has SATA 6GB, and USB 3.0 (though I do not need, nore expect either to work with OS X, as SATA 3GB and USB 2.0 will be fine), plus great affordability and I'm not an overclocker. Plus as far as I can see all the components of the board ought to be compatible with OS X. I also saw that there are a few folks on various BBSs using the board. So what do you guys think, did I do OK or should I have bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on the more expensive Gigabyte board?

These are the relevant board specs: Intel H67, Realtek ALC892 Audio, Intel 82579V LAN

Well since nobody will ever reply to anything I post I guess I might as well...

This turned out to be an nearly perfect Hackintosh build. I used iAtkos L2 and everything worked with the exception of the audio. This was easily fixed with Kext helper and the HDAEnabler892.kext from kexts.com.

I highly recommend this board for a low cost Hackintosh build. Just as good as a Gigabyte, maybe better!
