One of my systems is an S270 and it has a number of shortcomings as an OSX machine. A number of ongoing projects may help you get more hardware support, but it's a slow process.

  • The Radeon Xpress 200M is somehow different to the X300 family and will not provide QE or CI - you can get resolution switching with the Callisto FB but in my experience this only works with build 003;
  • There is a preliminary sound driver but it doesn't work yet with the S270;
  • The Intel 2200bg wireless project has yet to release a driver;
  • The RTL8139 only seems to work with MacOS versions through 10.4.5;
  • I don't know of anyone looking into the cardreader.

Sorry this isn't a more positive post, but if you really want to use the S270 as a Hackintosh I'd recommend getting a Broadcom MiniPCI wireless (BCM4306 should work) and a USB audio device. Oh, and you won't be able to run iWork or some of the iLife apps on this machine.

hi - my notebook is an msi 1013 which looks about the same yours. I got the graphics working at full resolution with Callisto 003 (see my sig), but no 3d ( no CI or QE). No luck with sound & modem, but just about everything else works great.

My ethernet worked out of the box, and wireless worked with the 2500 drivers from Ralink (http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm) My PC card, firewire, and DVD burner all work too. If youre having trouble with these, see what you can find with the Southbridge drivers in another section on the forum (I did something, but can't quie remeber what I found, I think it was the 480 set)
