Hello everyone

I want to attempt to do my first Hackintosh. I have been looking around trying to piece together what I can to do it as successful as posible without having a major headache at the end of it.

A few years ago i bought a eclipse solar i85n96gso set-up what includes:

Intel core duo E8500 3.16Ghz clocked to 3.8Ghz (so they claim)

6GB of Ram

768 MB Nvidia Geforce 9600GSO

ASRock P43Twins1600

Delta 44 Sound interface

MAC OSX 10.5.X Macbook reinstail disk (this I know I would need a patch for but don't have as yet)

I have come across a post with a ASRock P43 build, however some of the link do not work anymore.

I also came across another link with the same graphic card and the person mentions some problems with it to do with the menu.

With all my searching on the web, I have started downloading the Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 SSE2 SSE3 and wondering should I just use that. However I do want to use my computer with Logic Studio 9 mainly if not solely and I know I need it to be at least 10.5.X.

I don't want to bore you any further, I would like to use what I got to do a build without really needing to buy new bits unless I really have to. Maybe at some stage replace the CPU for a more powerful one but until then is there any help anyone could give me? If I have missed anything out please let me know.

Kind regards

Since this post I have been doing far more searching and I have finally come across more posts involving the motherboard. However i still seem to be coming across the same problem of not being able to find the modified BIOS for my motherboard. I am really hoping that someone has a copy or knows someone that dows have a copy so I can get it and carry on.

With some many options on which version of OSX and instailling method I was thinking of using the back-up of my laptop I created using SuperDuper.

Also I hoping this will not be a major set back but at the moment I can't update the BIOS from ASRock from 1.4 to at least 1.9. I read somewhere yesterday that I may have a dead motherboard and I pray that is not the case.

I will keep on looking for the modified Bios but I notice that Google won't always give you the same search results twice and I have tried many different wordings for the search.

Why do you need a modified version of your bios? Just google search ASRock P43Twins1600 OSx86. I found plenty of links talking about your motherboard. iDeneb 10.5.8 will work for your computer.

I was reading an original post on this very same forum about using my motherboard and there are link, admitedly dead now for bios. I must say since my last post I have tried using ##### with Loepard 10.6.7 and I must say it's looking hopeful at the moment. I will need a patch for the Leopard as it is a reinstail disk. It allowed me to so far as to be able to see what the os reconised in system profiler and I was shocked to see that it reconised eveything nicely incluiding the graphic card. I will look up this iDeneb and use it as a secondary choice if all else fails. The supe duper method did not work and I'm getting a headache on how to convert dmg to iso on both mac and pc. All in all i beleive I'm starting to get my head around all of this and hopefully it will be up and running sooner rather than later.

I have good news, it is up and running with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I used ##### and ##### with a retail disk of Mac OS X 10.6.5.

I followed the guide, you will need to google ##### to find it, follow the instructions and only use #####, I did not tick any other boxes becuase at first when I tried to re-boot I had to use ##### or you'll see a load of code with a message saying something along the lines of "shut down your computer and insert you install disk". I did not want to dual boot with Wndows Vista so I formatten both hard drives during the instail.

For sound I am using Edirol PCR-1. I have never used the built in sound. If that is a problem for you yo will need to look for a work around. To make your life easier and if you can afford to do so get yourself a USB Sound Interface and make sure you look to see if the manufactuar has drivers that support Snow Leopard. M-Audio to this dat does not have drivers that support intel based macs.

For vision (GPU) I'm using nVidia Geforce 9600 GSO. I updated the BIOS for this before I started the instail and I did not need to do anything after. The Motherboard (MB) was updated to 3.10, then after many attempts I used the winflash that I found on this forum (you will find it in the guide section on the secound page). In all honesty I do not know if it is needed but I still choose to use it. Also use the guide on this forum for the BIOS set up. I have access to the internet via Ethernet. I'm using generic RAM, 1Gbx2 and 2Gbx2 respectively.

If you do choose to update your software via the internet please beware of the security update from apple as I beleive it will stop you from being able to boot your machine. You will have to use the ##### disk again and may have to got throught the ##### proccess. I did not take the risk of going through all of that as it took me 3 times to finally get it right.

If you need a detail guide on how I achived this build tell me and I will do my best to me it a easy step by step guide.
