kviz
First of all, this is my first venture into the Mac world, so please excuse my ignorance I bought Lion app from the App Store couple days ago. Followed the ##### USB stick installation procedure. OS installed and booted fine (although I'm still booting from USB and selecting the Lion partition). In my previous attempts I had been downloading ##### and trying to fill in the post installation gaps based on what seemed like plausible choices (got the sound working, USB3 also seemed to be working), however most if not all of these attempt have ended in a kernel panic on the subsequent boot My primary goal was to get my video card (GTX 560Ti) working in a native mode, everything else is an icing on a cake In my previous tries I had tried to follow the the Fermi 5XX... thread, but obviously had failed miserably. So where I am right now: I have a clean install, which boots from the ##### made USB stick into Lion installed on my SSD. Nothing else is installed, and I'm asking for some hand holding, before I scrape this project Hardware: CPU: i5-2500k o/c to 4.5Ghz (stable in Windows) Motherboard: ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 Memory: 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM Video: EVGA GTX 560Ti (1024MB) SSD: Intel X25-M G2 80GB (Lion) SSD: Crucial M4 128GB (Windows 7) Additional Info: Lion is installed on a 40GB partition (followed this procedure Lion Installation Guide). kviz
Figured it out ... Got Audio / Video / Networking / SSD with TRIM support working. Tried Cinebench 11.5 to see how it stacks up to the Windows. CPU score in OSX was only about 4% lower (7.05 in Win, 6.80 in OSX). GPU score on the other hand was over 25% lower (61 FPS in Windows vs 45 in OSX). Still, not bad for a $29 investment Remaining issues: - When switching between desktops video pauses for a few seconds (NVIDIA driver issue?) - Overall, the system is not as responsive as Windows (purely subjective observation) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271931-about-to-throw-in-the-towel/#findComment-1769907 Share on other sites
tuba3d
Hi kviz I'm facing a lot of difficulties to configure a 560Ti on Lion, can you please tell me what steps you did to solve your issue to have full resolution and full power on your videocard? Thanks Cheers from Brazil Tuba Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271931-about-to-throw-in-the-towel/#findComment-1769911 Share on other sites
