KickingBear519
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleD...-691250-_-Combo Looking to build a stable hackintosh mainly for use with Logic and audio interfaces. Is this a good build for it? Is it really as easy as setting up BIOS correctly and using ##### Plus ##### to finish the installation completely? This guide... http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11465 ...seems very close to my build and would be my choice to follow it. I really want this to work. I just don't want to find out later that it was a waste bc im having problems with ethernet connection, or my audio interfaces aren't being recognized or I can't run a plug-in in logic, etc. Thanks in advance:) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271528-is-this-build-a-good-candidate-for-1068-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
KickingBear519
Even a short "yes, I believe it would work relatively well" or "I can't say. Could you elaborate on [enter subject]?" This is the second post I made about this matter in 3 days and have received 0 attention. I could understand if this topic was a duplicate of another but i have indeed done a few searches and no one, except for this guy has a similar build for a similar function. So please can someone give me feedback? This is the most difficult it's ever been to get a single reply from a forum community. And it's very discouraging to attempt this hackintosh project without some support from a community Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271528-is-this-build-a-good-candidate-for-1068-hackintosh/#findComment-1767680 Share on other sites
Neo Toxin
Hey sorry to hear your getting discouraged, stick with it though, I have a post out now thats going on 2 days with tons of views and no replies. Anyway to your question. IMO I would have to say that build should work relatively well. Of course you'll also need a compatible gfx card (I have a Radeon HD6850 and it works out of the box except the HDMI audio interferes with my onboard audio) The best advice I can give ya, is to research all the chipsets on the motherboard. see what sound chip is used, what nic is onboard things like that and research the individual components to make sure there compatible. Every hackintosh I have and have ever had has just been made from what I have at the time, with enough research and googling you can make almost anything work. In the end though its your money thats why people dont like to give buying advice, hackintoshing is - of course - a hobby and its always changing. For instance If you did buy that setup from newegg and not a damn bit of it worked at all, I would feel pretty bad being that I said it should work. But I digress, just make sure to do some through research on the individual components on the board instead of the board itself, your likely to find many more results that way. There is only 1 GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R out there, the odds of someone else having that exact same board are pretty slim. However, for example, that boards on board audio uses a "Realtek ALC889" which is a very popular chip that thousands of people have and are using right now. I just found it to be much much easier to find compatible hardware that way. I hope my answer was of some help to you. Good luck with your build. And welcome to the community. KickingBear519
Thank you so much for the reply! Very helpful. After quite a bit of research i'm very confident that this x58 build should work very well. I have since changed the components im am most interested in. Same board. an HD 5770 or 6870. Raidmax smilodon case and a Core i7 980. Now I'm only concerned on a graphics card that will work with dual monitors and the OOB compatibility of the i7 980 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271528-is-this-build-a-good-candidate-for-1068-hackintosh/#findComment-1768576 Share on other sites
