I am unable to playback DVD files on my on-board video chipset.

mobo: Intel 915GLVG

display: 82915G/GV/910 GL Express Chipset (Ven.id: 8086 Dev.id: 2582

Have installed JaS 10.4.6 + JaS 10.4.7 Update + JaS 10.4.7 Post Install Patcher

I'm getting a "Valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017] error when I try to play a VOB file.

Also, can anyone tell me how to get read/write access on my NTFS partitions? I can write only to Fat32 partitions but only read from NTFS ;)

Searched through the forums but most posts seem to be for Radeon, so if I am in the wrong place could the Mods please move this thread to the right location?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

EDIT:

Just checked System Profiler | Graphics/Displays:

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900:

Chipset Model: GMA 900

Type: VGA-Compatible Controller

Bus: Built-In

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

Device ID: 0x2582

Revision ID: 0x0000

Displays:

Display:

Status: No display connected

SAMTRON 55V:

Resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Not Supported

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Does this mean that the problem is my Monitor??!!

To all noobs like me:

PLEASE note that if the System Profiler (Hardware | Graphics / Display) lists your Chipset as GMA 900 and reports that Core Image and Quartz Extreme are NOT available, then you have made the same blunder that I did.

You simply need to re-install your OS with the GMA 900 patch selected.

I used the excellent 10.4.6 JaS iso. This patch is a part of the iso!

Had to post (double-post in fact) coz right now - after 4 days of posting "Help Me!" and reading 100s of posts and trying 50 'solutions' and hacks, I'm feeling rather STUPID!

Please save yourself the bother and look carefully when you are installing.

Hope this helps someone...
