AD5OS
Hi guys, So I built P5K Hackintosh. I flashed the bios for a p5Kr motherboard to enable AHCI... I installed SL and updated it t 10.6.8 It boots up fine after using ##### and using ##### and or userdsdt. So my issue is I want to use this hackintosh only for recording audio from my firewire preSonus firestudio mobile module. At first it was being seen in system profiler but didnt have a clue what it was. it is not syncing with anything and I honestly dont know if it is an issue with the module or the Firewire. I have a Creative Audigy 2 soundcard with a firewire port as well but I do not think it likes that card at all. Anyway I use to get a GUID in system profiler when I plugged it in now I don;t I dont know what the issue is everything seems to be working well.. graphics, onboard audio, a WLAN USB connector, but not this. The Presonus drivers are installed and their software I dont think is recognizing the module. Can someone maybe point me in the right direction to trouble shoot... I am thinking it is the Firewire KEXT since the issue seems to be with the module syncing to the firewire port. Or maybe it is the Presonus not liking my VIA onboard Firewire. The VIA firewire chip is a VT6308P but in LSPCI it is being described as a VT6306. Could this be my issue? Anyone have any ideas for me to check out? maybe I am looking for the wrong issue or there is somethign I am missing. Would this require making my own custom DSDT files or is this just an issue with a KEXT or EFI string? Super thanks in advance! pr0phet
if your firewire is working (showing up in your system profiler - Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec) try to uninstall the drivers (you can use appcleaner freeware to erase all the files) then shutdown, disconnect your soundcard, boot and install the drivers with the cable out, shut down, plug the cable and see if it works. Somethimes firewire devices are somehow sensitive about installing drivers when plugged in. AD5OS
Ok well here is where I am so far. I just did a fresh install of 10.8.6 with ##### only and everything is booting up alright. I am runnning 32 bit only. My Firewire card is saying that it is online but when i plug in my presonus Firestudio mobbile. In system profiler I get this under Firewire FireWire Bus: Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Unknown Device: Manufacturer: 0x10000 GUID: 0x100000012000000 Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Now I know it should have a real manufacturer and GUID there so whhat I want to know is this the firewire chipsets fault or a problem with the presonus not loading properly. In my logs I get this when I search Firewire. I get this when I boot up. Just seeing if someone can help me figure out how to troubleshoot kexts and stuff.. Maybe there is a tutorial somewhere online and I just need to figure this one out on my own. 10/31/11 9:38:22 AM kernel FireWire runtime power conservation disabled. Gringo Vermelho
There is a thread here somewhere with fixes for various firewire issues, try to find it. I know there is a DSDT fix for the first message, I've never seen the last one before, don't know what that means. Sorry I can't be more specific, use the search to find the thread. dods
Try AppleFWAudio.kext from SL 10.4.9, I got my Firebox recognised with my via vt6307 firewire card. PT 9 is working fine in my setup, but my firebox control doesnot recognize device, so i cant change clock source but mixer is working. Or better still get firewire with TI chipset ....
