^GoJo^ Posted October 13, 2011 Share Posted October 13, 2011 Hello, Until now, i was using a WD Passport USB2 old version and i bought the last USB3 version, extracted my OSX ISO as usual and when booting any computer it shows thousands of line "boot0:done" (never stops) what the hell is that? Is there something on this drive i should delete or change to make it work as a installer? Thanks! Fortunately, it's easy to work around once you know the trick. The following assumes you have Chimera 1.5.4 or similar installed, boot-from-USB mode enabled in your BIOS and Lion installed and ready to rock. Start with the hard drive off, and the computer powered off. Press the power button on the back of the hard drive. (I have reoriented my drive so that the power button is facing forward, to make this easier.) Wait 5 seconds, then power the computer on. At least on my computer (a Dell XPS M1530), OSX automatically starts up and successfully loads Lion. Using the power button directly on the WD "My Book Essential" USB 3.0 drive works 100% reliably for me. In a pinch, you can also cycle the power to the drive using an external power bar. Sorry, it may not be possible, and I can only speculate (as my WD "My Book Essential" HD does have a power button) but here goes: Assuming that the solution might be similar to the one that worked for me, and that your drive is USB bus-powered, I'd start with the drive disconnected and the computer OFF. 1. Plus in the drive to a powered USB hub. The drive should spin up. 2. After 5 seconds, turn on the computer (attached to that powered hub) 3. ?? 4. Profit!!
