TimK1764
PLEASE READ: Hey Dell owners, I think I may of found a solution when we try to install snow leopard retail out internal drives don't show up, you need to downgrade your BIOS to the first version (here for 9200.) I downgraded mine because I couldn't boot from USB after some googling I found it to be a BIOS problem but read earlier versions worked, so I went with the earliest I could find, USB booting is now working so I decided to give this guide another go just to see and my internal drives now show up during the install when BIOS is set to Raid auto / ata. Ok I'm not 100% sure if its just me getting lucky or the BIOS fixes the drives not showing up! Please someone confirm it! Install Guide Step 1: Downgrade your BIOS to (1.0.3 for 9200.) I'm unsure if its the same for the XPS 410?. Step 2: Get ##### and follow this GUIDE to install snow leopard, (update to 10.6.8 with combo update & use ##### but follow Step 3 before rebooting) hopefully the BIOS downgrade makes your drives appear in the installer like it did for me. Step 3: #####, things to choose 1, #####, 2, System Utilities, 3, Under Kexts & Misc, ElliotForceLegacyRTC, IOUSBFamilyRollback. 4, Under OSx86 Software, Kext Utility. DON'T REBOOT YET! Step 4: Goto /Extra/Extension and delete AHCI_3rdParty_SATA.kext & JMicron36xATA.kext. Step 5: Install kexts attached below using Kext utility, just select all and drop on the app icon. (Possibly drop in /Extra/Extensions after as well) Step 6: Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utillity Step: 7 Reboot and enjoy Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
