I installed the 10.6.3 retail DVD and used Nawcom's ModUSB on it. Installation went swimmingly, everything works except I can't get on the internet. Ethernet won't work either. Network diagnostics aren't helping me. Wifi was working on an older OS X installation I had, but I reinstalled with a newer modusb thing and now it isn't working. I've installed nothing since installation. What else can I check for you guys?

I attached a txt file containing the output of kextstat, because apparently this forum doesn't have scrolling code tags. I got a kick out of 74. :)

Also, I usually have to boot with USBBusFix=Yes. Any way to make that permanent?

Thanks in advance. But I kinda doubt I'll get answers.

i guess u spazzed on the post button (2 posts of same) :) anyways

we need more info than kextstat

try dhcp with manual ip or plain manual ip .. make sure dsn and gateway are there.

what chameleon2 version, smbios.plist used. dsdt used ??

laptop or desktop model

the easy way to ccreate a usb bootable is:

1: create usb from dmg with diskuitility restore tab.

2: install chameleon2 to usb

3: install FakeSMC 3.x to usb /Extra/Extensions

4: add smbios.plist (with proper model info in it) to /Extra

5: add DSDT.aml (with patches) to /Extra

boot usb ;)

Sorry for double posting :D I tried to post last night (and apparently succeeded) but the site was telling me it couldn't connect to the database so I assumed nothing was posted and tried again this morning. I don't have a SMBIOS.plist file in /Extra and I don't know where else it could be. I'll go figure out what DSDT really is, and I might play around with editing it on my own, but that'll take a little while. In the meantime...

Chameleon v2.0-RC5 r726

My motherboard is MBAU901001, in an Acer Aspire 5735

my bios says Phoenix Securecore setup utility in the menu thing. BIOS version 1.7.

So I was rebooting verbosely and I saw a snippet saying

ACPI table not found: DSDT.aml.
No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value

So I guess I'm not using DSDT. I guess all I can do is play around with different kexts. Advice? Solutions? Thoughts? Questions? Even if I don't get it totally solved, I'm having some fun.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, my home network is WPA2. Could the encryption type be killing it?

EDIT EDIT: Just noticed that Finder can see other computers on my network. It says it can connect to one, but I don't see any files. It's linux though so maybe that's why.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: System Profiler detects the card and all that, sees networks. Country code is US, locale is APAC.

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT: I can DEFINITELY access my local network, just not the internet. HELP?

set ip manually.. gateway and dns are the same (usually 192.168.1.1)

get dsdt editor and save dsdt then put in.zip and post here

I tried setting the IP manually and all that jazz. My boot process says I have no DSDT. Forgot Apple offers the combo updates for download. Updated to 10.6.8 and airport was totally broken, went back to 10.6.7 and everything works wonderfully. I saw some snippets online saying support for my card was added in various 10.6 releases and it worked back when I was on 10.6.7 so I went there. Strangely enough, 10.6.3 used to work for me as well, but my trackpad and sound were glitchy and broken, respectively. Now everything is perfect.

smbios.plist needs to be added with proper model..

and extract dsdt to mod it. (we know u are not using dsdt as chameleon said so... all mobos have dsdt in BIOS.)

go do some reading.

i had same problem with wireless and lan on 10.6.8 .. smbios.plist is the issue. (missing)

but some people have issues with IOPCIFamilly and need to use chun nan's (eureka) or slice version.

I have same problem right now. Sometimes after reboot wifi is working, not sure how, but then again pings fail even to local IP and it's down. But getting IP fine, router says it's connected also. Using WPA2 Personal, system version is 10.7.1. Connection to LAN on same system works fine.

P.S. Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01).
