Okay so about 2 years ago I learned how to install and deal with mac on a PC via these forums and now I am re-installing on a computer but I have forgotten most of the tricks. I will need a little help, however, I do understand most stuff, just have forgotten it. With that said, if anyone could assist me, feel free to use technical terms because I will catch back on quickly.

Okay, so I have a new computer I built myself and I am having issues with it.

Some Info:

  • Installed via iATKOS v7 .iso
  • Installed Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel (Others failed)
  • Installed some other drivers and Chameleon v2
  • Upgraded to 10.5.8 via "Software Update" (Had to re-install the Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel after installing update.)

Okay so here are the issued I need help with:

When I start up, the chameleon loader launches the screen with the apple loader and then after it loads, the screen goes blank white with some pixelated spots (as if the video card is failing). I can't tell what is wrong from verbose mode b/c it loads up fine then goes to the same white screen. The only way I am able to start up and use my mac is if I use Safe Mode (-x). Using -f to reload drivers never works.

When I load in via Safe Mode everything works except the video driver obviously isn't working (Only one setting: 1024 x 768) and sound wont work. I installed Voodoo Audio from the iATKOS CD but I can't get it to work. Please let me know if you need any hardware info.

The Card is an ATI Radeon 4850 which I've seen confirmed to be working but no matter which method I try, the video card still won't work and the "System Profiler" tells me that there is "no kext loaded" which confuses me because I have the modified 48xx kext with my Device ID installed to the Extensions folder (I install all my kexts via "Kext Helper").

Can anyone help me figure out why I can't boot w/o safe mode, get the video to work, or get audio to work?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

EDIT: Does anyone know how to get rid of .DS_Store files? They keep appearing in random places (such as the desktop), IIRC it has something to do with Windows but IDK.
