DVD/CD drive unable to burn after move to Snow Leopard.

After upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 on my quad core hackintosh (specs listed below), I have found that my DVD/CD drive has lost its functionality to actually burn content to blank media. I can still read from already produced DVDs, but burning produces random error/failure messages in just about any application available (including Disk Utility).

 

The drive being used is an LG GH22NS70.

 

The build of the Hackintosh:

 

2.4 GHZ Quad Core q6600 (OC'd 3.0)

8 GB RAM

8600 GTS

6 TB of HDD
