Hi Guys.

I'm new in this forum and this is my first so if i made any mistakes ,take it easy.

I just installed mac os x 10.6.3 on my PC (PC's config will be shown down this topic) and everything worked fine instead of audio.

my audio card is Realtek ALC883 8 Channel.

on 10.6.3 audio was working just by voodooHDA which was included in installation disk i had for 10.6.3 but the microphone was not working also in system info the computer did not recognize my audio card model.

after i downloaded the latest MAC OS X update which was 10.6.8 my graphic card was fully recognized and the speed was like speed of light but the audio had the same problem.

i searched many website for audio KEXT files and i downloaded many of them and installed them too but the problem didn't solve either.

there was one KEXT file which was about 8MBs and it made my system recognize the audio card model and channels but the problem was it just made my mic work and there was no sound.

so i turned back into voodooHDA and now i just have my sound and no mic.

my request is if there is anyone in this forum who had the same problem and solved it by any tools ,please help me.

my PC's Config:

Motherboard: ASUS P5E3

CPU: LGA775 Intel Core2Quad 6600 2.4Ghz

RAM: Corsair 1066 DDR3 2G

HDD: 500 GB

Audio: Realtek ALC 883 8-Channel High-Definition Audio CODEC

*Coaxial/Optical S/PDIF out ports at back I/O

*ASUS Noise Filter

You could try my ALC883 kext here. I have a Gigabyte board but it might still work.

The downside is I couldn't get the front panel Mic input to work, so you'll have to use the rear Mic input.

No, i didn't work either ,even in front panel mic input.

Are you using a DSDT with the HDEF fix? I should have said that that's a requirement.

Another possibility is that your codec is a different address (like 0). Though in my early experiments I was able to use kexts with address 0 verbs even though mine was address 2.

Oh, since I installed mac about 2 weeks ago ,I have no idea what is DSDT and HDEF fix. I'll appreciate if you explain them to me.

Have a look here. If you have an /Extra folder at the root of your hard disk look to see if it has a DSDT.aml file in it. The method you used to install OS X may already use DSDT. It really is the best way to get things working.

If you go to post 225 there (on page 12) there's a pre-patched DSDT for a P5E3. It's better to patch your own but you could try that one initially to see how it works. Patching is straightforward. Just get the patcher and patches from the first post on that topic (not the autopatcher, that one is gone now).
