ATI x1650 Resolution not working

Hi guys! First of all I am a total noob so apologies in advance, I am on a very steep learning curve.

I recently (about a week ago) made a hackintosh on my computer, fairly easily, using Tonymac's guide with ##### and 10.6.8. A couple of hiccups but I was able to find solutions and it was all done in a weekend.

Now my other half wanted me to do the same for him. Except his computer is older and I've run into endless problems.

He's got an Asus P5GC-MX1333 mobo and a Radeon x1650 Graphics Card (71c7) and Atheros L2 fast ethernet driver.

After much trial and error and googling I finally was able to find kexts, boot, got graphics, internet, keyboard and audio working - phew! But I cannot get his screen resolution issues working.

I've tried a bunch of different things but the one that I think is going to work and has reported success on 71c7 and 10.6.8 gives me an issue with IOACPI and IOPCI, specifically, these messages;

Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily, v1.3: a loaded copy with a different executable UUID is already present.

Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily, v2.6.5: a loaded copy with a different executable UUID is already present.

In my limited understanding from googling and trawling through forums I take it that this means that I have kexts with dependencies and they are trying to call different versions.

As I have already spent several days trying to fix this and have managed to completely stuff the system and (luckily) recover again (thanks to macdrive) I thought I'd ask for help. I'm sure it's something basic, I just don't know where to start to figure out what. I am trying to install ATI1600Controller.kext, ATIRadeonX1000.kext and EVOenabler.kext. They are pre-edited to 71c7 and ATY_Wormy and I really don't think they are the problem but when I install them using Kext Utility I end up not being able to boot and get the msg above.

How do I figure out what is causing the problem and how do I fix it?

Please help! My other half is getting frustrated as everything works on my computer but not on his. I am getting frustrated because he keeps playing his game on my computer and it was relatively easy to set up my computer but his computer is becoming a real PITA! I know he needs to upgrade but that's not an option at the moment, so if anyone can help I would be eternally grateful!

TIA ;)
