ginog
dear friends a new question.... and if i install a pciepress card from apple directly? for example a geforce 7300 upgradekit? if my idea is correct, a pciexpress is the same port on a pc and on a apple motherboard. so the only difference is that the OS have to recognize the card cause the bus of the pciex card works correctly (if u think that if the pciex recognize my ati x550 card in his strange mode, why he will not recognize a apple card?) what u think about it? to explane better (forgive my english) 1) i buy a apple grafic card (for example the upgrade kit geforce 7300) 2) i install it on the pci ex slot of my pc 3) i suppose the OS will recognize the card in a correct mode it could be a correct idea? ginog
i suppose it will work cause in this mode my terratec audio card works perfectly. infact when i istalled for the first time the 10.4.5, the OS recognized directly my terratec firewire audio card (it's an external audio card) using directly the drivers of OSX without other installation or patches. the sound works great. (i don't have garageband to try if the system recognize all 8 ports in and out) if u think that a firewire port can work in the same mode of a pciexpress port (just a connection with a card and the core system) the idea is correct. i suppose. munky
remember that a Mac Pro uses EFI to initialise such hardware. you never know until you try. good luck! munky
Extensible Firmware Interface which the intel macs use instead of BIOS. ginog
mmmmmm but the efi problem it's only a problem of the apple bios and not of the pc bios i suppose so if the apple ge force grafic card has not protection the pc bios must recognize as a normal strange grafic card, than it will be only a problem of drivers but if the osx have the drivers, because the grafic card is an apple card Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26889-and-if-i-install-a-apple-geforce-upgrade-kit-card/#findComment-182765 Share on other sites
ginog
thinking in the same way: in the cases of motherboards with the intel grafic cards 950, the OSX recognize directly all the prefereces. why? cause it's not interested from firmware information but only from drivers information in the same way if the apple geforce grafic card has not a kind of inside protection, the system will recognize it and will use the correct apple drivers...... what u think? wondergod
it is a possiblity that for the machine to even initialize the card EFI has to do its handy work...not only that what if OSX drivers do an EFI check to verify...no one knows... you would just have to try it out...good luck. CoolBits
7300 from mac pro works in a normal PC... some users reported... and runs windows normaly... You will need Mac Pro kexts for it to run on OSX and probably the new kernel for those kexts too... ginog
thank u coolbit, it's the answer i needed. if i install the geforce 7300 mac version it will be recognized by windows? and my osx? i suppose of yes. if u have some link about this discussion i'll be happy to read news about it if my theory is correct (i baptize this theory the "GINOG THEORY) it will start a new ERA in which apple elements and c elements can combine theirself. (forgive my english) i need more infos......... ginog
i add this link http://strangedogs.proboards40.com/index.c...read=1155609269 a series of discussions about the compatibility of apple grafic cards on pc in more test someone report that an apple geforce 7300 gt works normally under xp than if it has inside his firmware EFI, i suppose that osx86 will recognize it i'm thinking to order that card Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26889-and-if-i-install-a-apple-geforce-upgrade-kit-card/#findComment-183437 Share on other sites
CoolBits
It will work in osx when we have new kernel and even than its at least 30% chance that drivers will not work cos of motherboard EFI not properly initialising the card... But i really hope it works best way to know that is if someone tries it after we get 8.7.2 kernel working...
