Hi guys

Sorry for the simple questions here, I did search but couldn't find any conclusive results that were easy enough to understand.

First of all I would just like to know what Donk's unlocker actually does?

From what I read here with the recent development of running OS X on ESXi requires patching with the unlocker. However my current host is running a few other VMs and I would like to not patch the hypervisor for stability reasons.

Is there any possible way to install 10.6 / 10.7 server without modifying the ESXi files?

Use a darwin.iso approach. However I also run Linux and Windows VMs and the changes ar actually very minor and in no way should affect stability. Basically adding some text to 3 files, and changing 2 other bytes to 00.

Can you give me a link to some resources on how to do it via the darwin.iso approach? So far I've only found methods which involve adding FakeSMC however I haven't had any luck, keep getting stuck on a white screen with beachball.

What about installing OS X Lion in Fusion 4, then putting FakeSMC inside. After using vCenter converter to add it to the host?

I understand the unlocker doesn't do much, but if there is any way to run OS X on my ESXi host without modification I'd still very much prefer that.

TIA.

Well you are going to have to change the tools installed on ESXi anyway so I don't see the problem. Start here but I don't do any of that sort of work anymore.
