I'm brand new to this forum so first hello to you all ;)

I've recently got snow leopard running on my pc and the process was a lot simpler than I thought it would be.

I used a retail snow leopard 10.6.3 modded with myHack and updated to 10.6.8.

After that everything seemed to be working perfectly. I have only installed today so haven't been using it for long (there might be other problems I discover down the line) I haven't done anything to do with DSDT (not sure what that actually is yet)

My problem is, the graphics card is an XFX 5870 and is recognised in osx as an HD 5000 Series and seems fine. The performance isn't quite as good as on Windows but it's still acceptable although there's some serious screen tearing when doing anything in openGL.

Has anyone experienced this or have any pointers on how to fix?

Thanks in advance, really liking the active community here so hoping someone will be able to help ;)

I am facing the same problem , but I have the 5870 mobility, in my alienware m17x r2 laptop. I think it has different vendor id, device id than yours but its been recognised also as HD 5000, in lion 10.7. QE/CI also enabled and full resolution. I have tearing too, in opengl games and I didnt find any option in the gui to force the vsync ON. Maybe can be done through console commands, but I dont know how.

I hope someone with the knowledge help us
