I use grub...

but...when I configurated it my mac didn't start correctly...

then, when I updated to the 10.4.7, the hdb2 (where I installed it) started to work...

probably 'coz the partition I used wasn't a primary...it was a logical one...

with the help of Acronis Disck director, I switched it from logical to primary partition...

Now...you can try to see if your partition is logical or primary...

I was able to get OSX running on an extended partition. I had to put the chain0 file on a partition GRUB could read directly, (ntfs did not work) I used a FAT32 partition. I also tried a EXT3 partition but couldn't get it to work, though I didn't try very hard. Then, just point GRUB to the chain0 file...

root (harddrive number, partition number)/chain0

example:

root (hd2,2)/chain0
