renodude18
Ok so this is the second time i'll be doing a hackintosh install. this time with a different computer. the last one worked great after a little tweaking and narrowing of distros but anyway here are the specs i have pulled so far. ACER aspire 7551-2961 AMD Athlon II X2 p320 2.1GHZ Dual core (I've read that this processor is supported with 10.6) 3GB DDR3 PC3 10600 (1gbx2GB0 DVD+/-RW DL Drive Hitachi HTS545032B9A300 ATA Device (system information says its Sata so it should work) ATI Radeon HD4250 internal graphics with 256mb base memory and 1704 hypermemory This system also has a Webcam, HDMI port, Card reader, 3 USB, 1 VGA, Wifi:Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter Ethernet: Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet (I'm unsure of what model but i would rather the wireless work than the ethernet) I also have as an optional wifi device Netgear WUSB300n by netgear. Now i've tried to use iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 but it will not load to setup. I've read that 10.6.2. will work but in order to save discs and time it would be awesome if someone knew what distro i can use. Install method: as this is a laptop and i would like to keep the portability of it it would like to keep the original windows 7 installed so that i can run to it. i do however had another computer to rely on but i dont want to. any and all help will be appreciated! for now i'll keep searching. OPTIONAL: I will be getting a newer laptop with Intel core i3 2.10ghz dual core with Intel HD 3000 graphics and 4GB DDR3 memory and blu-ray. My curiosity is if this laptop will run it better or if it will have better support as apple uses intel core series now and intel graphics HD 3000 on some of their laptops. a dual boot will be much wanted on this one to! thx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/267784-i-dream-of-a-hackintosh-again/ Share on other sites

renodude18
you tryed hazard snow leopard server install ? my laptop wouldnt boot any distro and so did my amd it wouldnt boot anything so i downloaded that it worked I havent tried that one yet but i will. thank you!! **Update** I have tried iAtkos v7 and it wont boot to setup.. I also tried snowleo and was able to get to setup once but my mouse wouldnt work so i'm thinking it froze cause not even the keyboard would work. but i was only able to get to setup once the other two times i tried it wouldnt get passed a part that would say coreraidserver in which it would say not responding. so i went to the bios and looked for settings with my hard drive and the only setting for it was i think AHCI and IDE mode. when i switched it to AHCI i was able to get to a part that said unable to mount both dev/diskos2 and dev/diskos3 does anyone have any idea why i was only able to get to the setup once and why it seems that my hard drive isn't able to be read.. atleast thats what i think the problem is. and also what are a list of AMD distros out there? renodude18
Just tried to use the Hazard snow leopard server and it wont boot to setup as well.. i'm starting to think that my hard drive is not compatible but how do you tell in a laptop? according to the specs i pulled off the internet about my hard drive it is a SATA hard drive. but when i use the boot selector screen it says IDE0: Hitachi which is the hard drive this has. so i'm guessing that is my problem. so i'm just going to give up until i get my other laptop as it is newer and is also intel so i may have a different hard drive and will most likely be more compatible with snow leopard. unless someone has a suggestion on what i should do next. i've tried 4 distros so far and i might try one more from ideneb if they have an updated one next.
