reddragon105 Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011 I've got SL 10.6.8 installed, dual booting with Win7, on both my laptop and desktop. When I first set up my Hackintoshes, neither of my wireless cards worked with Mac OS. I had a Linksys WUSB300N USB adapter in my desktop, which doesn't work in Mac OS at all, but I was also having trouble with it in Win7 (not reconnecting if the computer woke from sleep) so I replaced it with a Broadcom BCM94321MC mini-PCIe wireless N adapter in a PCI Express adapter. That card works brilliantly in both Win7 and SL. That's my desktop sorted - now for my laptop. I've got a HP DV7 with a BCM943225HMP1A half-size mini-PCIe wireless N card in it and I can't get that to work with Mac OS at all. I've tried all sorts of different drivers, kexts, workarounds, etc. and got nowhere. The other day I tried the full size mini-PCIe card from my desktop in the laptop and it worked in Mac OS right out of the box - detected as a Airport card, connected to my WEP-secured network and allowed me to browse the internet just fine. I had to flash the BIOS with a custom version that had the whitelist check removed, but that was straightforward enough for me - the only problem is, a full size mini-PCIe card does not fit in my laptop properly. There's only really room for a half-size card, as it's under the primary hard drive bay and with a full size card in there the hard drive won't lie flat and the card won't screw down properly. So, long story short, I'm looking for a half-size mini-PCIe wireless N network adapter that will work OOTB in my laptop the way my desktop one does. It doesn't have to have Bluetooth, as my laptop has separate Bluetooth. I've been looking at other Broadcom cards, but when searching for the chipsets on this site I've seen mixed answers as to whether they work or not. Does anyone have any recommendations? If you have a half-size mini-PCI wireless N adapter that works in SL, please let me know what make/model it is and how you got it working, if you had to do anything. Alternatively, if you have a BCM943225HMP1A and managed to get it working, please let me know how!
