The main problem I can see is that Retail 10.6 is 10.6.3 - and support for the Intel HD 3000 and the 2nd Gen Core-i series CPUs wasn't introduced until 10.6.7 (or a special 10.6.6 build installed on the 2011 MBPs).

What about trying Lion? At least it'll have the right support for the CPU/GPU.
