Riley Freeman
Re-running the setup assistant makes no difference here. The keyboard layout I picked during installation is cast in stone and I just cannot change it to the one I want. Changing to the one I want via Input Sources works for a while but eventually it gets rest back to the system default one and my @ and " gets swapped. Surely the setting must be stored somewhere. Riley Freeman
Here's how to do it. Pick Japanese as an input language. Select one of the options (like Romaji). Your previously greyed-out default layout will now be selectable. Uncheck it, pick the layout you want to use and then uncheck Japanese. Your preferred layout will now be selected and greyed out.
