vutana
Hi all, I've installed Lion on the following configuration : Asus P5B deluxe, Core 2 duo, Geforce 7900GS, PS2 keyboard. Working in 32bit mode for compatibility with the 7900GS. Installation made with myHack. My OS works perfectly for two or three days. And after two or three days it crashes. After the crash, it is impossible to reboot, even with any combination of "-f -x". Here is the result of verbose mode : BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/BootCaches/PreheatedUser/Merged.playlist: 2 No such file or directory See image below I've reformated and reinstalled the system. It was exactly the same : after 2 days, it crashed. Does somebody can help ? Thanks. vutana
Update : it looks like I don't have to reinstall. I just have to let it rest for a few hours, and then the mac accepts to boot. Very weird... Can it be related to a DSDT issue ? smartie77
Update : it looks like I don't have to reinstall. I just have to let it rest for a few hours, and then the mac accepts to boot. Very weird... Can it be related to a DSDT issue ? you have other issues, not necessary related to Lion: - Your USB kexts are not working correctly. For beginners try booting with LegacyUSB=Off or change usb settings from BIOS. Firewire can also conflict if FW and USB is a combocard. - The Nvidia method you use ( "Nvkernel" ) is also causing issues. Can't help with Nvidia. search the forums what to do . I would start investigating these two issues and see if there are more . Inside OSX launch console.app and study the system and kernel logs if there is some pattern in error messages. To find out how much DSDT has to do with that, boot without one ( with nullcpu then of course ), move it out of / or /Extra and remove the line in your boot.plist that points to DSDT. And yes a DSDT that includes nonsense for OSX or is only "half finnished" can do more bad then good. Beside that Lion has (lots of ) errors that have nothing to do with hackintoshing at all. It is a not so optimal System as of now ( 10.7.1 ) . It gets better, and 10.7.2 will surely fix most of what is now dubious; If I were you I would do all the tests on Snow, simply because it is rock-solid as of 10.6.8. And only if this up2date Snow is working with not a single error, i would use the same DSDT then for Lion to rule out all these "is it the OS or DSDT or some unknown error ?" questions.
