Hi, am trying to work up ideneb v1.6 for more than week now but i am unable to get it working, it doesn't boot into the actual os not even the beginning intro... it keeps on rebooting. Forgot to mention that it installs without a hiccup but I don't know why it isnt working;? First I was trying on SATA HDD but I read some where that there are some issue with SATA so, I even installed an IDE drive just for Mac but all in vain.(

Machine details are,

Processor: P4 540 3.2Ghz (HT disabled)

Motherboard: Intel D945GCZ Board

Chipset: Intel i945G/GZ

RAM: 1GB DDR2

Graphics: Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family

HDD: Samsung IDE 20GB

Audio: Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller

Network: Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection

Optical Drive: CD/DVD-RW

tried all -x-v-f-s cpu=1

tried with ACPI to S1 as well,

Install with default ideneb options too, like with out installing extra kernels etc...

If ideneb 1.6 doesn't work these specs so can you please recommend me some other OSX86 Leopard Installation?

Thanks.

;D I know this is a common issue, done a bit research before posting... You see there are quite a lot causes which can cause this, so I 've posted my specs for easier diagnostics, I am not much an expert that's why...

Plus I would really appreciate if you could help me with the kernels which ones should I choose.

Thanks.

Sorry, it's just that many people who post here seem to be completely unaware that they can search for information and find what they need faster than sitting around waiting for someone to reply.

Which kernels are available to you? iDeneb 1.6 is what, 10.6.3?

The best kernel to install (for now) is probably the same one that the ideneb 1.6 DVD boots with, it is obviously working since you can complete the install. Boot the DVD in verbose mode with -v, maybe you can see which kernel it's using.

For the same reason though, I don't think the problem is with the kernel.

If it's 10.5.8 then you should use Qoopz' 9.8.0 Voodoo-based kernel.

Check your BIOS settings:

Try some boot flags:

Keep in mind that you can not use an unpatched, original Apple kernel on a Pentium 4 CPU.

If your Pentium 4 is new enough to have SSE3 instructions (and preferably EM64T, which the 500 series (yours) doesn't have AFAIK) it's apparently possible to patch out the CPU checks of the Apple kernel and use it as is...don't ask me how though:

Here's a patched version of Chameleon that lets you use the vanilla kernel on a Pentium 4/Pentium D CPU:
