Hi, I thought that I would write this guide for anyone who has an M700, also as my brain regularly let's me down it would be useful to keep my notes somewhere handy!... oh and forgive my poor literacy... here we go...

I have started with absolutely no mac experience whatsoever.. never even seen one lol,

So I decided to set about installing OSX on my M700, first I downloaded all kinds of distro's (modified installation's) and tested their functionality, I started with Leopard and found that Ideneb (osx 10.5.6) worked near enough out the box, all that was required was to enter option's at the bootloader and select the -s -x flags (when prompted to press f8 for options.. press f8 then type -s -x and hit enter). anyways that's another story, if you read the title thats not why your here, on to the meat!

First off if you don't like headaches then start with a fresh formatted install, it is possible to use an existing windows install but hassle, The following notes are mostly tested with a few assumptions (brave!)

a usb mouse will be needed for the install, regardless of what read for 10.5 install multicore must be left on in bios.. everything default and booting from rom of course! I actually have the fingerprint reader disabled so can't comment.

need usb thumb drive(s) & blank disk at some point of course

you will not get wireless working without changing the internal wireless card (under the keyboard) for a mac compatible so just don't bother

download IATKOS S3 V2 this distro works well with the M700 (respect to IATKOS!)

http://tehparadox.com/forum/f51/iatkos-s3-...6-3-pc-1106503/

and burn

boot the rom with -s -x flag's and select english if you are

open the disk utility select the main drive and choose partition, create partition's sized as you will I did this

HackinTOSH 40GB mac journaled

WINDOWS 80GB msdos fat

DOCUMENTS (as much as possible!) msdos fat

UBANTU 20GB (for later) msdos fat

This creates a hybrid GPT disk unlike the tradidtional MBR partition scheme the disk function's like that of a mac and is a requirement if you wish to run OS update's

the GPT disk has a hidden 200mb partition named EFI that mac doesnt use but just likes it to be there

the MBR still exists and protects the GPT partition scheme

Windows is constricted to 4 partitions as it uses the MBR so windows needs to be on one of the first 3 (+EFI totals 4)

When you finished partitioning close the disk utility and then.... restart and install windows... shut down and get your windows disk in (win7-64!)

boot from the disk choose advanced options and format the windows partition to NTFS the rest of that bit is for a Macroshaft forum,

Reboot the Iatkos disk again -s -x this time just next and customise and have the following options selected

Chameleon RC5 !!! (windows friendly :-)

Extra Directory

Fake SMC

Dissabler

RTC

Evo Reeboot

Apple PS2

X3100 EFI string

GMA 950 27A2

X3100 framebuffer

next..... make a coffee ! (takes about 20)

keep an eye as when it reboot's you need to eject the disk, HackinTOSH Should now load and you can begin filling in the pieces as per below guides,

I haven't actually tried that method but should work, I had to do the following as I installed mac first and have included this for the purpose of information.....

after installing mac then windows mbr is haggered so..

/boot Iatkos, get network going as below, partition thumbdrive to macjounaled name "FLASH" download GPTsync: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=177505 install to the flash drive and get gptsync on the flashdrives root, reboot iatkos to install environment and do the following

open diskutil and unmount HackinTOSH close diskutil

open terminal and

cd /volumes/flash

./gptsync disk0 (yes or whatever til back at bash)

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

p

f l

write

exit

reboot with iatkos and select HackinTOSH download Chameleon RC5: Windows friendly installer http://www.kexts.com/view/783-chameleon_2_...aller_r693.html install and done!\

now you can dualboot win and osx the following will sort the rest of things out,

firewire, delete AppleHPET.kext from s/l/e (system/library/extensions) reboot

firewire appears in network, now reinstall AppleHPET.kext with Kextwizard: http://www.kexts.com/view/1604-kext_wizard_3.7.10.html

wired network,

intelE1000e.kext: http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=376

audio:

VoodooHDA.kext: (with fixed volume control) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183321

bootloader gui

http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1737.0.html

this gets renamed "default" within create a folder "themes" within E/E (extra extensions)

E/E needs to be unhidden to see it use this http://www.brooksandrus.com/downloads/show_files.zip

screen res

as per this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=208410 and some!

boot windows, open regedit, navigate HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\enum\display\tosxxx?(not generic)\(digits)\deviceparameters and save the key as a text file

open the text file and you will see the screen's EDID as a lot of hex digits comma seperated with some dashes in the middle, you need to remove all the dashes commas spaces and carriage returns so the edid is a long string and save the text file to a thumb drive, download plisteditpro http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/plisteditpro/ and unpack,

change from sytem preferences displays the color of the display, this creates a directory and plist we need

navigate /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-756e6b6e/

the file DisplayProductID-717 can be dragged to Plisteditpro edit IODisplayEDID in the top half, replace the string with the one from windows, close save, check there is no extension on the file (get info rtclk) and reboot.

Tablet

download and install TabletMagic http://www.thinkyhead.com/tabletmagic

sudo -s (password)

open terminal cd /system/library/extensions/apple16x50serial.kext/contents/plugins/apple16x50acpi.kext/contents

chmod 644 info.plist

nano info.plist

navigate find and replace "pnp0501" with "WACF009" its next to IONameMatch

save and exit (work it out lol)

run maintenance in kext wizard (reboot if not message popped serial0)

Tabletmagic can now see the tablet woohoo! configure it!

keyboard layout

and thats most all for now, if you would like to add anything feel free, if you would like to ask anything then you are welcome, I will blog as I find if you don't mind

sorry to the diehard terminal talkyhead's... my brain is a sieve
