After having a bit of trouble getting my USB mouse and my PS/2 keyboard to work (the mouse worked perfectly, but the keyboard wouldn't register), I was about to go with the existing workaround of getting a USB to PS/2 converter for my mouse - until I stumbled upon this!

On a whim, I set my computer to "Sleep" to see if it worked (which it did, however the screen displayed a distorted image). When I woke up by clicking the mouse, the keyboard worked perfectly! Now every time I restart my computer, I briefly put it to sleep and wake it up again to get full keyboard functionality.

Figured this might help someone

Also just try plugging in a PS2 mouse that you have laying around. That works perfect for me.
