Reed H
Greetings. I have decided to try to create a functional osx86 computer in my spare time, and had stumbled upon this forum as a means of information. however, after a bit of tinkering finally have came to an impass on how to get the install onto my hard drive. Disk utility comes up with "error resource unavailable" when i try to format or erase, or even do anything to my hard drive. in addition, if this helps, the orange drive indicator light is stuck on, however the drive when you listen to it, is only just spinning, and not reading. i have checked out the drive a few days ago, so it's not failed/failing. this drive had an ubuntu and an opensuse partition on them until earlier tonight, when i deleted them. i personally believe the problem is something to do with a limited bios and the lack of an "ahci" setting for my sata drives, at least that's the only thing i could not do that the guide i read suggested me to. also hoping i don't have to use all sata or all ata drives for install, as i don't want to or see the point of right now going to a sata dvd drive (until i go for bluray) the issue is, i have yet to find a good work around for this. i will give you a rundown of what i have for hardware, to the best of my knowledge, if you need more info or i forgot something, let me know. Motherboard: asus a8m2n-la (from an hp computer nodus M, not the NAOS) ram: ddr2, 1.7 gigs (3 512 sticks, and one 256) hard drive: western digital 200gig (wdc wd2000js-6) Installed graphics ATI radeon 9250 pci card, (and i pray the tv out will eventually work) chipset: GeForce 6150 LE chipset processor: amd 64 x2 3800+ (sse3!) frontside bus speed: 2000MT/s (2.0 GT/s) integrated realtek audio ALC888 (though, i may use a different card at a later time DVD drive: pioneer dvd-rw dvr-111dbk (that's what the numbers on top say anyways) it's ata and not sata onboard ethernet: Marvell 88EC031 10/100 pci card ethernet: netgear (sorry don't know the model off hand) 10/100/1000 wish i could say more, perhaps this will help: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...amp;dlc=en#N381 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265935-need-some-help-gettng-an-install-on-an-asus-a8m2n-la/ Share on other sites
