[MiniGuide] IATKOS S3 V2 installation on the Acer Aspire 4310 (Mac OSX 10.6.3)

Hi, friends. This is my first post and i hope it will help somebody.

 

Note: I couldn’t install this version of Iatkos until i upgraded the CPU, from a Celeron 530M to a Core2Duo T5600 (20 euros on ebay). It seems, included using the last version 1.18 of the bios of this laptop, that the laptop heats up too much, and it shutdown before finishing the installation. Now, as i’ve installed this iatkos, with the new cpu, i don’t have overheating problems.

 

So, what i did successfully!

 

Installation options:

 

Bootloader: changed to chameleon v2 rc5

 

Drivers – ahci sata, supposing you have your hard disk with ahci sata option enabled on BIOS

 

Sound – nothing seems to work-not the kexts included on iatkos dvd. So, uncheck all the sound driver-kexts that are default on iatkos installation. I solved this trouble by adding a kext after the installation, included in this post in a zip (after trying some of them on kexts.com, this is the one has worked for me).

 

Voodoo ps/2, Keyboard and trackpad will work, if you check this option

 

 

Laptop options:

 

Voodoo p-state

 

Battery

 

Card Reader: i used this option, but it doesn’t work. I solved it buying a 6-in-1 card Reader on ebay (5 euros).

 

Acpi thermal 32 bits – to control the heating thing.

 

Vga Intel – efi string –> you can use lots of resolutions, up to 1280x800. All the other drivers-kexts doesn’t work and you have to use an ugly 1024x768 resolution. I don’t know if graphical acceleration is working, but it works perfect for me.

 

Network: Don’t check anything. I don’t know why but if I take the kext of the iatkos dvd, mac osx doesn’t recognise my router, so i tried with the kext you can find in the zip attached to this post and it worked perfectly, recognising my internet router and connectin instantly to the internet.

 

Wireless: Don’t check anything. Out of the box. Detected by Airport automatically.
