JasonY
I've been trying to update my default 10.6.0 (From Retail 10A432) to Lion on my GUID P.T. HDD from a ASUS K53SV. The update route I've take is from 10.6.0 -> 10.6.6 then 10.6.7 and finally 10.6.8 (Since I heard there's some kext needed to be updated or else I'll get a Kernal Panic. It all stabalized without any additional kext installed on 10.6.6 and 10.6.7 , but the BIGGEST problem is that it doesn't recognize my i5-2410M (HM65 Express Chipset) at all . I can't even get a clean install from Lion Retail Disk... Please , any help would be appreciated . I've already lost Window , and I can't afford to give up... Thank You! aufa333
so u installed 10.6.8 yet or not? boot with -x -v and post back the error. also ur i5 recognizing depends on several scenario 'maybe its the bootloader u r using ,maybe ur os cant recognize ur spec as original mac so u need a file call smbios in ur Extra folder < check mald0n lion guide for that' Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265804-dsmos-has-arrived-and-i-got-stuck-~/#findComment-1736148 Share on other sites
JasonY
I tried two times updating from 10.6.0 / 10.6.6 to 10.6.8 with Combo update or Software Update. It ended up as a Kernal Panic while putting the file in place (please look at the pic) It's the one and only one , installing Update Helper from tonymac doesn't seem to work at all... So I guess it doesn't matter. Regarding to aufa333's reply , I wanna say thank you. I once have installed a stablized 10.6.6 and I already have MacPro 3,1 smbios. I haven't install 10.6.8 yet , the updating progress is where I'm stuck at. I use only #####-Legacy to boot into the HDD. The problem is that it saids Mac Lion needs Xeon/i3/i5/i7 , and they didn't recognize my i5 which is a Sandy Bridge new i Core. I tried BridgeHelper but its no use... The CPU in About My Mac is still 2.29Ghz Unknown. I am now aiming for a clean installation , yet didn't work with MaLd0n's USB installation... JasonY
get smbios from Mald0n lion guide and put it in ur SL Extra folder and see if it helps. The Lion install USB doesn't work at all. Therefore I'm back the path of updating to 10.6.8 . It got a LOT better now , at least I've successfully updated to 10.6.8 , as I've done the following... 1. Install SL 1.6.3 according to #####+##### Method 2. Run ##### -> ##### ONLY, do not install any kexts (yet) 3. Run Update Helper (the helper DOES NOT suggest you to reboot, but you should) 4. REBOOT using ##### 5. Run 10.6.8 Combo update - do not restart yet 6. Run ##### -> ##### again 6b.At this point, ##### & the combo updater apps crashed , I just started ##### again and restarted manually after Then I've booted with #####-Legacy again , when I tried to boot with flag -x -v -f , it stucks at PCI Configuration begins . After that , I've got into my repair OS and use Kext Helper to install the 10.6.7 ACPI PCI Kexts (From 3rr0rists.net). It clears up the block , but then it stops at DSMOS has arrived... Here by following is the screen of installation log... Please... help ~ Appreciated.
