Upgrading Problems from 10.6.7 to Lion on P7H55M SI, i5 760 & Gtx 460 1Gb

A while back, i managed to revive an old hard disk and successfully install Snow Leopard onto it. I seem to remember it took a while, but was successful in the end. Recently, with all the fuss about Lion, and seeing several videos about xmove and seemingly straight forward instructions, I decided to go ahead and attempt an upgrade.

My first issue was that whenever I tried to resize the SL partition in Disk Utility, a kernel panic would occur. I bypassed this issue by partitioning with gParted.

xMove was successful in moving the Lion files to the new partition, however I have another problem. Whenever I try to boot to the new partition, it freezes. With -v flag I can see that this is a kernel panic caused by power management. Applying the pmVersion=0 flag fixes this freeze.

Now, however, I am stuck at the screen attached. I have searched google and have found noone with this particular problem of stopping mid line. Any fixes relating to a freeze on BSD root also seem to have no effect.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it will most appreciated.

Thanks

Ill be following this thread closely. I had my system (p7h55m/csm, i3 540, 4GB, ATI 5670) up and running 10.6.7 and my hard drive failed. I replaced the hard drive and went to re-install and then the big problems began. ##### will not work for me using any boot flags I have tried, so I used Nawcom's boot CD, then updated to 10.6.2 and I get PCI Configuration Begin hang now every time, regardless of the boot flags.

Hopefully someone can give you an answer soon, and hopefully that answer helps me out as well.

I can get you to 10.6.8 on that system

I have a p7h55-m the same i3 same video but 8 gb ram

burn a copy of this... find on pirate bay

(Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD made by Hazard)

set your bios settings (ahci, power=s3 only)

put it into your sata cd drive and press f8 at the prompt

switches are -v arch=i386 busratio=23 maxmem=4096 cpus=1

(you can probably eliminate maxmem I suspect)

this will boot you to the install where you can use disk utility to erase the drive you will install to - (extended journaled of course)

i chose only 2 options to be safe 10.5 bootloader and the legacy kernal

reboot...

boot up with same switches again -v arch=i386 busratio=23 maxmem=4096 cpus=1

you can now fill out your account info etc.

insert a usb flash drive with ##### 3.8 and osx combo update 10.6.8

run the combo update now that you are at the desktop

when it finishes do not reboot yet First order of business delete in System/Library/Extensions the 5 AppleIntellHDGraphics files listed there

now run #####

easy beast install

system utilities

Drivers and bootloaders/Kexts and enablers/audio/universal/voodooHDA 0.2.72 (although i chose nothing because i have a Ci2 steinberg recording usb audio device)

misc elliotforceLegency RTC

EvOre boot

fakesmc but not pluggins

cpuPower kext -(don't rememeber the actrual filename)

network/realtek Gigabit Ethernet 2.06

customization/system definitions/MacPro 3.1

(also choose 64 bit screen for 64 bit)

OSx86 software

install

dont reboot yet

you have to remove the sleepenabler and its files or you will never see the desktop again

go to preferences the yellow light bulb

move the sliders to off

now you need to go to

/system/library/extensions and delete SleepEnabler.kext

/system/library/ and delete extensions.mkext

delete everything in /library/caches and /system/library/caches

repair permissions if you like.

Thats it!

reboot

note i have an external RTL nextwork card as my onboard always gave me troubles even in windows -(just disappears or goes into cable disconnected)

also note my nic is set to a static ip and not dhcp (turn dhcp off on your router)

Hope this helps

My machine runs great but doesnt sleep and I can't get audio input to work in Skype but it works on the system from my steinberg audio interface.

cheers
